Web: How to get your Device ID for the web push channel

After getting optin on your domain, you may want and need to retrieve your device ID, so that you can proceed with a series of tests prior to launching your real campaign.


By following the steps below you will be able to get your device ID on all platforms (Desktop/ Mobile).

Please note that it will be mandatory to get the device ID from the same Browser on which you proceeded with the optin process



ON YOUR DESKTOP:

You have two possibilities to retrieve your device ID for the Desktop web push channel :


From the Accengage UI:

Go to your web environment and click on the Targeting Tab > Search > Want to find your Device ID ? Click here

A popup will show up containing your device ID.


Please note that this process only works for optin process from Google Chrome and/or Firefox browsers.



If you meet a red sign, it probably means that the browser you are currently using is not optin on your domain.



You, then, may need to check the following points :


1. You are on the correct environment (DEV or PROD) 

2. You are optin on your website


From your website:

The following process is compliant for Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers.


The information related to your Accengage profile is immediately stored in the Local Storage and the IndexedDB of your domain following the optin process.


You have the possibility to retrieve it directly from your website by proceeding with the following steps :


Google Chrome & Firefox :

1. Go on your website and get optin

2. Click right on your mouse pad and inspect

3. Click on the Application tab

4. Click on Local Storage or IndexedDB

5. Select the URL ending by "-by.accengage.net" (for the Local Storage) or select your domain (for the IndexedDB)

6. (Local Storage) -  If you select the Local storage, your device ID will show up in the field "UDID"

6. (IndexedDB) - Click on settings, your device ID will show up on the second line (in the field "UDID")

  

Safari :

1. Go on your website and get optin

2. Click right on your mouse pad and inspect

3. Click on the Stockage tab

4. Click on Local Storage

5. Click on the URL ending by "-by.accengage.net"

6. Your device ID will show up in the field "UDID"



ON YOUR MOBILE:

In order to retrieve your device ID for the mobile web push channel, it will be required to proceed with the same steps as mentioned in the first section of the Desktop section.


This process will need to be done directly from the browser of the mobile device.


Please note that the Web push channel is only available for Android Google Chrome and Firefox.
